Adriana Romaguera - Blog Post 2

After watching all the presentations, what really stood out to me was how each group managed to share their ideas in such meaningful ways. Every presentation touched on big topics like family, safety, healthcare, and the environment but what impressed me most was how each one tied their message back to compassion, community, and responsibility. Even though the speakers focused on different issues, they all showed a deep sense of care for others and a desire to make the world better. I especially liked how they balanced solid facts with emotional stories and clear organization. Together, they reminded me that when people and institutions work hand in hand, real change becomes possible. The group that talked about environmental issues and public safety really grabbed my attention. They explained things in a way that was easy to follow and made the topic feel personal. By using real scientific data and connecting it to everyday life, they helped the audience see that protecting the ...

Amanda Rodriguez-Palau (Group 1) Blog Post Reflection – Civic Action Presentation The Civic Action presentations showed just how thoughtful, creative, and compassionate everyone in our class can be. Even though each group focused on a different social issue, there was a powerful sense of unity in the room. Every speaker approached their topic with genuine care and a desire to make communities safer, healthier, and more informed. What I appreciated most was the balance between strong research, emotional storytelling, and real world examples. It wasn’t just academic work; it felt like everyone was trying to understand the world at a deeper level and share that understanding in a meaningful way. Across the topics of family, healthcare, environment, and safety, a common pattern appeared: each issue affects the others. These presentations helped reveal how connected our systems truly are. When environments are safe, people’s health improves. When healthcare is accessible, families sta...

From the various presentations, what impressed me most was how each group was able to present their ideas and make comments on major issues that revolve around family, safety, environmental sustainability, and healthcare. While each speaker presented a different message, they all gave importance to compassion, community, and accountability. What impressed me most about the speakers was the use of a mixture of authentic facts, emotional appeal, and clarity of structure in making their themes relevant. These are connected because they represent how both institutions and people try to come together to make the world safer and healthier.      The group that focused on environmental issues and public safety sent out their message clearly and in relatable terms. Because of their presentation, which used scientific data and linked it to real-life experiences, the audience was able to perceive the clear connection of environmental preservation with human being...

Chapter Presentation Reflection Amanda Rodriguez-Palau When I first found out that our class would be presenting different chapters from the public speaking textbook, I didn’t know what to expect. At first, I felt nervous about being in the very first group to present. There was definitely added pressure because we didn’t have any prior examples to learn from or see how other groups approached it. In a way, it felt like we were setting the standard for the entire class, which made me want to give it my all and make sure our group did the best we possibly could.Public speaking has always been one of those things that makes my heart race, so the idea of explaining a whole chapter made me wonder how I would pull it off. At the same time, I was curious about how my classmates would handle it, and I was hoping to learn more from them than I would by just reading the book. What I didn’t expect was how much I would genuinely enjoy both preparing with my group and watch...

Ashley Valenzuela- Blog 1 (Presentations)

When I was first told that our class would be giving group presentations of different chapters from our public speaking book, I truthfully felt a combination of interest and nervousness. Public speaking is something that usually creates quite a bit of nervousness in many individuals, including myself, so part of me was concerned that people would be totally at ease discussing it in front of the entire class even if it's through Zoom. It made it more nerve-wracking that I didn't know who was on the other side of the screen. Meanwhile, I was eager to find out how each of the groups would choose to take their own chapter and share it in their own unique way. What I was least expecting as the presentation days went by was how interesting they were. Rather than becoming a series of stuffy lectures, they became energetic, innovative, and even enjoyable to watch. Each of the groups took to it in their own unique style and way, and it kept me interested from start to ...
